Hello folks,
Am sorry I haven't written sooner, but you folks at home will have to get used to this period of time between letters. I have written up 3 since a landing here in Africa. I will, however, do the best I can. Don't let my not writing stop yours tho. Keep em coming. We used to have two mail calls a day in the states but they are cut down to about that amount a week here, so you can see how we look forward to receiving letters. Your last letter was dated May 5th.
The weather here is warm trough the day and chilly at night. We've had one rain which turned to hail early one evening.
Our eats are pretty good today for dinner we had meatloaf, corn, bread and butter, of pineapple and orange eight. We had another vegetable which I don't like.
Have had three passes here so far. The towns are dirty. Had a French supper one night. Soup to nuts. Consisted of soup, shirred eggs (roasted eggs), Bread (sour), peas and lastly dates.
I haven't worn your sweater yet. I guess the time is not far off that I will. it is the right color. No we weren't given any other sweaters by the Red Cross. I think they go to Australia & England to our boys there.
From the letters I've been getting I take it that the weather there is busy. A lot of rain. That'll raise hell with the farmers, wont it. Frank, buy a big enough farm and I'll buy a partnership when its over. Got to have a lot of room for chickens.
Helen went back to work. She's down at Fishers so is staying with Merle. Helen said that [Tubby] was about ready to leave for the Army .
Hoping this letter finds you well. Send some chocolates if you can find some.
