Citation to accompany the award of the bronze star medal to Ernest M. Relac. Lieutenant Colonel Ernest M. Relac distinguished himself by meritorious service as Chief, Scheduling Branch, Fighter Division, Directorate of Operations Plans, Deputy Chief of Staff, Operations, Headquarters, Seventh Air Force, Republic of Vietnam, while engaged in ground operations against an opposing armed force from 24 August 1971 to 6 May 1972. In this important assignment, the leadership, exemplary foresight, and ceaseless efforts consistently demonstrated by Colonel Relac resulted in significant contributions of major importance in combating aggression throughout Southeast Asia. His superb scheduling of the tactical air forces was a major contribution to the unsurpassed accomplishments of the air campaign. The exemplary leadership, personal endeavor, and devotion to duty displayed by Colonel Relac in this responsible position reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
