My Dear Frank & Alma
Well as you will notice I have changed my address- I have been off for 8 weeks now resting, but I only came in here today your parcel got here this morning. It was a lovely surprise & cheered me up immensely, its just what we needed to, it must have taken about 6 weeks to get here.
I wrote to Elva yesterday & spoke of not having heard from you, I had intended to write this week anyway.
Its a lovely place, did I tell I was expecting to go away in my last letter? The doctor said I have been overworking & needed a good rest & going into hospital was the best idea.
There are 11 other girls in my ward we have, head phones each bed & a radio-gram so we can play our favorite records, 2 of the girls have been doing a hoolah-hoolah display- we have loads of fun but I'm going to be so homesick I know, I am all-ready.
The weather has cracked up suddenly altho' it's been rather hot & I've been sunbathing, they wheel us on to the viranda here when its hot. When I was 21 last year I couldn't have a celebration owing to my sister being away we had looked forward to having it this year & now I'm the one to blame.
When I started this letter last nite, I have to leave off & get some rest, its now 6:15 A.M. & 1/2 an hour ago we had a cup of tea & our temperatures taken, I've just taken a shower & am feeling very awake- wondering what's in store for me today, breakfast at 7 AM and I am so hungry.
Think I told you we had Italian prisoners at the old camp- well now we have Germans- in age ranging from 16-65 yrs. They are horrible looking specimens, they parade them along the lanes around here, they are always either singing or whistling their hats off, in some German army song, their uniform is a blueish- grey & a peaked cap it looks like air force.
Do hope you are both keeping well, and I am so looking forward to hearing from you.
So till next time
Goodbye & God Bless
Very Sincerely
