Heavy brass cowbell dated 1878 and embossed with makers name, Chiantel Fondeur. ( Chiantel = name of the company, Fondeur = foundry) French. 1878 might be when foundry was created. Also embossed with Signelegier, a town in Switzerland. The bell is believed to be a US reproduction, possibly made in 1960s based on its steel clapper on a steel wire suspended from a loop in the crown.
