Description

Iron float or buoy. Records indicate is might be Russian. Metal floats were used by trawlers while commercial fishing. Their nets fish under deep sea waters where the pressure can adversely effect light weight floats. Beach combers sometimes find objects that migrate to Alaskan beaches from places like Russia or Japan because of ocean current patterns and weather. The float is attached to the net by an iron rod forming a W shape at top. The W shape has a small metal cross bar that makes it slightly different than float #1994.001.016.
