Gonakadeit Housepost. Totem. This housepost stood inside the front of Chief Shakes clan house (X'atgu.hi't- the Dogfish House), on the left side of the entryway. It illustrates the story of the man who killed the sea monster Gonakadeit. Gonakadeit can be seen above and beside the man's head. The man holds a whale in his hands, with it's tail in his mouth, while the beak of a raven holds the whales's tongue. The man stands on a sea monster's head, whose eyes are looking back and up.
