Description
Reference book compiled by Roger Hansen, Mason Grand Historian 2015-2019. This book documents where clubs were and their history in the district, territory, and state of Alaska. Pages 159-162 discusses Wrangell Club and Eastern Star Chapter No. 11. It states that according to the Right Worthy Grand Secretary in Washington D.C., the Wrangell Eastern Star was chartered in 1928, approximately 3 years prior to the formation of the WRG Mason Club. It is unknown the reason and date the Masonic Club ceased to exist. It is stated that Eastern Star is typically sponsored by a Masonic Lodge, but not in the case of WRG. "The Eastern Star ceased function in 1971 because it was unable to have a quorum at it's meetings. Members were aging and no new people were joining." Publication was hand-delivered to Wrangell Museum by author Roger Hansen 11/10/2019.
