Shipwreck artifact, SS Mariposa. A brass (or bronze?) porthole swing plate, glass is missing. Also known as a "Bull's eye window", side scuttle. Spherical shape. Purpose was to allow below-deck occupants fresh air and a limited view of outside. This is one of three porthole components. Steamship.
