Description

Mammoth tusk, Ivory, 1/2 of hallow cross-section, with multiple shallow drill marks/holes on the inside edge, mild or light patina, glossy surface. Label states: Wooly mammoth ivory occasionally eroded from the land. Ivory and bone could be shaped into useful building components, tools and art. Wood was in short supply in the arctic. People invented ways to use all the products at hand.
