Description

Newspaper clipping of a illustration of the Dionne family's quintuplets with Doctor Allan Roy Dafoe. The doctor, who delivered the children is in the center of the photograph with the five girls around him. The girls appear to be annoying or teasing the doctor, the doctor looks extremely surprised. Distinguishing Features: none

Context

These quintuplets were the first born to survive infancy and grow into adulthood. They were born in 1934 in Callander Ontario and were delivered by Doctor Dafoe. After their first four months alive the custody of the children was given to the Red Cross to raise the children and by 1935 the Ontario Government passed the Dionne Quintuplets Guardianship Act making the children wards of the crown until they turned 18.
