The photograph is an aerial shot showing all 37 stalls open as well as the turn table. There are locomotives in most of the stalls, but not all. Most of the locomotives in the stalls are steam locomotives, however there are four diesels.

The Canadian Pacific Railway was founded in 1881. Part of Prime Minister Sir John A. Macdonald's dream of Canadian Confederation, the building a transcontinental railway was part of the agreement to get British Columbia to join Confederation. Construction began in 1881 and lasted well into the 1900s to build lines connecting Canada from Vancouver to Montreal.Collection
