Description

Personal scrapbook belonging to former Capreol mayor Harold Prescott. It is his 1979-1984 years scrapbook. It contains a variety of documents including: newspaper clippings, post cards, photographs, personal notes, and advertisements. All of the documents discuss events and stories happening in Capreol at the time or personally to Prescott. Distinguishing Features: Blue cover reading "scrapbook"

Context

Prescott was born in 1911 in Killaloe Ontario, in 1938 he came to Sudbury to work for INCO. In 1941 Prescott was hired to be a locomotive fireman for Canadian National in Capreol, later he became an engineer. By 1951 he became a town councilor and in 1955 he became mayor and remained as mayor for 13 years (minus 1962-1963). He is responsible for the donation of CN engine 6077 to Capreol in Prescott park, he also is credited for designing the Capreol flag.
