Description

Postcard belonging to former Capreol mayor Harold Prescott. The postcard features an image of two buildings in Kapuskasing Ontario. Context

Prescott was born in 1911 in Killaloe Ontario, in 1938 he came to Sudbury to work for INCO. In 1941 Prescott was hired to be a locomotive fireman for Canadian National in Capreol, later he became an engineer. By 1951 he became a town councilor and in 1955 he became mayor and remained as mayor for 13 years (minus 1962-1963). He is responsible for the donation of CN engine 6077 to Capreol in Prescott park, he also is credited for designing the Capreol flag.
