The Dome Mine was discovered in 1909 by a combined effort of John S. Wilson and Harry Preston. It was developed during the Porcupine Gold Rush. The mine officially opened in December of 1910. It continued to operate until 2017, at that time it was owned by Goldcorp, in 2019 it was purchased by Newmont.
The book discusses both the history of the Dome Mine as well as a general history of gold mining in Ontario. The book also discusses the creation of the Dome Mine.
