Depot Harbour was a railway town, home to the Canada Atlantic Railway. The railway also connected to the harbour itself and commissioned steam liner ships for both freights and passengers via Grand Trunk Railway. Their top exports were grain, lumber, and iron ore. The Canada Atlantic Railway opened in 1882 ran from Ottawa to Coteau, and from Coteau to the international boundary via the Coteau bridge as of March 1890, and from Coteau to Parry Sound as of December 1896. The railway was created to link Ottawa to Montreal by means of a new railway. The railway was later purchased by the Grand Trunk Railway in 1904 and was incorporated by 1905.Collection
