Original document belonging to J. C. Gaudaur. Gaudaur worked for Canadian National initially as a trainman, later becoming a brakeman then a conductor. The Capreol Young Men's Christian Association was founded in 1920. It was founded on the basis of an agreement between Canadian National Railways, the town of Capreol, and the National Council of the YMCA, as a place for railway workers to rent rooms. There were a large number of workers but a shortage of accommodations. During its time open it offered boarding rooms to young single men, and also hosted a variety of community events.The YMCA in Capreol continued to function until 1978 when it was closed down, and torn down in 1979.Collection
