The Noranda Mine, located in Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec was incorporated into a mine in 1922. In 1920, Edmund Henry Horne had claimed mineral stakes in the area. It was known for mining copper, gold, zinc and aluminum. In 2005 the company was succeeded and purchased by Falconbridge Limited, later bought Xstrata in 2006, then Glencore in 2013.
