The men, from left to right: Fred Ricci (acting roadmaster), Mayor Harold Prescott (a CNR engineer), Nickel Belt MP Norman Fawett (on leave from his job as conductor), Wallace Connon (superintendent of transportation), Leon Metcalf (acting assistant superintendent), Stan Tompkins (area engineer), Ray Evans (trainmaster), Freeman Allen (roadmaster).

Context

Locomotive No. 6077 was purchased by Canadian National Railways in 1944 along with 19 sisters. They were the last steam locomotives purchased by the company. Locomotive No. 6077 was saved, and gifted to Capreol by Canadian National Railways in 1967. It is on display in Prescott Park, now part of the Northern Ontario Railroad Museum and Heritage Centre.
