Digital copy of a black and white photograph of the head on collision of Canadian National locomotive no. 6077 February 17, 1936. Three men stand on top of the wreck in the middleground.

Context

Fireman J.P. Coughlin died in this wreck. Locomotive No. 6077 was purchased by Canadian National Railways in 1944 along with 19 sisters. They were the last steam locomotives purchased by the company. Locomotive No. 6077 was saved, and gifted to Capreol by Canadian National Railways in 1967. It is on display in Prescott Park, now part of the Northern Ontario Railroad Museum and Heritage Centre.
