Description

Simpson's branded mop head which was used on board the McKay school car. It belonged to Helen McKay who received it from her mother for use on the school car. The handle is missing.

The mop head was used to clean the floors of the school car

Context

Angus and Helen McKay lived and taught on school cars from 1935 until 1950 originally on Canadian National school car No. 4, then on Temiskaming Northern Ontario Railway car No. 1. In 1940 for two years, Helen took over as the teacher while Angus went to serve during the Second World War.
