Context

The notes are written on Canadian Pacific letterhead, and are regarding the popularity of their passenger service in comparison to Canadian National's. This includes a comparison of schedule, a copy of what was written on the Canadian National Station's bulletin board in Parry Sound, the number of passengers getting on and off, overall experience, types of cars, and a map of the route. The notes were compiled by W. E. Mcfee (?) The Canadian Pacific Railway was founded in 1881. Part of Prime Minister Sir John A. Macdonald's dream of Canadian Confederation, the building a transcontinental railway was part of the agreement to get British Columbia to join Confederation. Construction began in 1881 and lasted well into the 1900s to build lines connecting Canada from Vancouver to Montreal.
