Patent grants from the Dominion of Canada Patent Office granting the Patents for Fred A. Jordan's "improvements in the methods of making briquets" to Moose Mountain Limited. No. 166416. The documents include ten pages of description from Fred A. Jordan of his invention, and one page of accompanying technical drawings. The description is signed by Fred A. Jordan and witnesses Arthur F. Williamsby and William F. Day in Sellwood, Ontario, Canada on April 27th 1914. The drawings are signed by Inventor Fred A. Jordan, Attorneys Edwards, Sager and Wooster, and Witnesses J.D. Conelly Jr. and M.G. McClelland in New York, NY on May 7th 1914. On the inner back cover is printed an extract from the Patent Act, Chap. 69, Revised Statutes of Canada, 1906. There are thirteen sheets in total counting the front and back cover, bound together with a green ribbon, and there is a official seal of the Patent Office of Canada, with the British coat of arms in the centre, at the bottom left corner of the front cover. The British coat of arms is also printed in black and white and centered at the top of front cover, underneath a "Dominion of Canada" banner. There is also a decorative border framing the text on the front cover. The rear cover is blank. There is a letter from Edwards, Sager and Wooster addressed to Moose Mountain Ltd., regarding the attached patent, December 17, 1915.Collection

2019.003.012a The front cover is in good condition. There is a slight crease vertically down the middle. The bottom left and right corners of the sheet are slightly creased where they have been folded over. Three holes have been punched in the paper along the left side, evenly spaced top to bottom from the centre. Small metal rings have been fastened in each of these holes, and the surface of these rings is slightly rusty.
2019.003.012b-m These sheets are in very good condition. There are slight creases vertically down the middle where the sheets have been bent. Four holes have been punched in the paper, two in the top quarter of the sheets, and two in the bottom quarter. There is an metal paper fastener attached to the pages which is beginning to rust.
2019.003.012n The rear cover is in good condition. There is a slight crease vertically down the middle, and vertically along the left side of the sheet, to the right of the ribbon binding, where the sheet has been bent. There is also a deeper creases running from left to right across the top quarter of the sheet.The top left and right corners of the sheet are slightly creased where they have been folded over. Three holes have been punched in the paper along the left side, evenly spaced top to bottom from the centre. Small metal rings have been fastened in each of these holes, and the surface of these rings is slightly rusty.
2019.003.012o: The ribbon and seal are in good condition. The ends of the ribbon are starting to fray.
2019.003.012p: This letter is in very good condition. here is some rust staining at the top left from a metal paper clip that was affixed to the documents (this has been removed and replaced with an archival "plastiklip" plastic paper clip). There are light creases at the top left and bottom left corners, where the documents have been folded over.Created By
