The Hinton Train Collision occurred in December 1986 when a CN rail freight train heading west collided with an eastbound VIA passenger train, both on the main line. It happened 11 miles east of Hinton Alberta. 23 people were killed, 71 were seriously injured. The disaster cost approximately $30 million.Collection
