Center School (1876 -1949). Photographs of the building, North Hampton teacher Frances Leavitt (1906-1978), and class pictures (some identified) for the years: 1907 - 1913; 1923-1925; 1932; 1936; 1937; 1949 and 1950.
Given as a gift to the town in 1876 by North Hampton native John W. F. Hobbs, Centennial Hall became town property in 1918. The Center School (primary and grammar grades) was located here until 1949, when a larger, more modern school was built on Atlantic Avenue. Centennial Hall also served as the center of North Hampton social life during that time. From 1949 to 1997 the use and care of Centennial Hall declined until the Friends of Centennial Hall was registered as a Charitable Trust. The volunteers of the Friends of Centennial Hall have restored and continue to care for the building and foster public use and appreciation of this important part of North Hampton history. Centennial Hall was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.
