Martha Strong was born on March 18, 1807, to future Knoxville Mayor Joseph C. Strong and Catherine Neilson Strong. She married Charles Ready in 1825 and the pair had at least 7 children. She died in 1877 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Murfreesboro.
