One color photographic postcard of the little red school house interior. Several benches, a table, desk, podium, chalkboard, and bookshelf furnish this corner of the room. A window stands over the main table. Photos and posters hang from the wall and books line the main table. The back of the postcard has information that states: "The Original 'Little Red Schoolhouse' (1837) in early Oberlin, Ohio, teacher's desk was the 'Center of Learning.' From a platform the schoolmarm surveyed a miniature kingdom with a sharp eye, sorting out the lazy from the industrious. One of the former was liable to end up on the dunce stool."Photograph Details
