Black and white photograph of downtown Oberlin on West College Street. Various shops and storefronts line the dirt road. There are some trees in the background and two distinct piles of wooden crates. On the back of the photograph, a handwritten label reads: "The building marked 'Photo Gallery' was the original Oberlin Hall which contained college offices and recitation rooms. It was started in 1833 and had been used as retail store space for a number of years. It burned in 1886." Aside from those listed, the other stores visible in the photo are Smith's Art Gallery, Hiram Hulburd, Flour Feed & Groceries, Crockery & Glassware, Telegraph College, News Printing Office, as well as Second Church and the Oberlin Soldiers Monument.Photograph Details
