Kenneth F. Bates, regarded nationally as the dean of American enamelists and has work in collections at the Smithsonian, Cleveland Museum of Art and numerous others. He exhibited in more than 100 museums and galleries worldwide, including an unprecedented run of 62 consecutive May Shows at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Bates was also the first recipient of the ODC’s Outstanding Achievement Award. Born in Massachusetts, he attended the Massachusetts School of Art, Berkshire School of Art and the Ecole des Beaux Arts Americaine in France. He published several books on enameling and design and was regularly featured in Ceramics Monthly.
