Context

Rentemark was currency issued on 15 November 1923 to stop the hyperinflation of 1922 and 1923 in Weimar Germany, after the previously used "paper" Mark had become almost worthless.[1] It was subdivided into 100 Rentenpfennig and was replaced in 1924 by the Reichsmark.

(Vertically-oriented text, at left): Wer Rentenbankscheine nachmacht oder verfälscht, oder nachgemachte oder verfälschte sich verschafft und in verkehr bringt, wird mit Zuchthaus nicht unter zwei Jahren bestraft.

Translation

(Vertically-oriented text, at left): Whosoever copies or falsifies renten-banknotes or acquires and puts copied or falsified (notes) into circulation will be punished with no less than two years of prison time.
