Description

Black print on brown underprint, including the Reichsadler crest (German eagle heraldry). Brown tint vertically along right 1/3 of the note. Series number appears in either green or black; serial number appears in green- both at the top of the note. Red overprint diagonally across note and vertically along right. Watermark in right margin showing note's original denomination (1000) in a braid design. Prefix and numbering in dark green. Portrait of the mint master Jörg Herz by the German mannerist painter, designer and engraver Georg Penz.

Reichs Banknote R B D (abbreviation for Reichs Bank Directorate) One Billion Marks Whosoever copies or falsifies banknotes or acquires and puts copied or falsified notes into circulation will be punished with no less than two years of prison time.
