45th Division news Vol V. No. 24 "Most decorated Division chaplain is Leroy W. Raley, 157th Infantry. His is the holder of the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart with clusters, and the Presidential Unit Citation. No mere gesture of routine services was Chaplain Raley's Silver Star. He won it in action last May 26 when German fire was inflicting heavy casualties on his battalion near Carano, Italy. Out into the heavy fire, Chaplain Raley led a littler squad directly to the wounded men. To those who could be saved, he gave efficient first aid. In this way he saved at least two lives. To those beyond hope, he administered last rights."Made/Created
