Photograph published in the 45th Division News, 15 April 1944, Vol. IV, No. 35, Caption "When talk veers around to the 'shell with your name on it.' It's right up the alley of 1st Lt. Earl Veach, Oklahoma City,. Some time ago the Lt., who is an artillery observer, move his BC scope from the spot where he had originally placed it to a point about 15 yards away. Two-minutes afterward, a shell plowed into the exact spot where the scope had been. When the Lt. searched the spot for shell fragments, he found one piece with some curious markings. He looked closer and discovered the marks to be EOV - his own initials."Made/Created
