Context
This is one of a number items donated by the widow of ex PC Peter Stevens, who served in Brighton Borough Police between 31st December 1953 and 4th January 1959. This certificate gives proof of his service between those dates. Amongst the collection of items relating to him are some photographs, his white and blue police helmets and his truncheon.
Mrs Stevens stated that her husband enjoyed being a police officer and only resigned because his first wife did not like him working nights.
