Context
In the past when new procedures in policing were introduced it was the responsibility of individual police forces to conduct their own training and in many cases produce their own guides and handbooks. Sussex Police in the 1980s and 1990s had a large training Department and a significant part of Police HQ at Lewes was devoted to training, the Queen having opened a new training centre in 1979. In the current day and age much of this supplementary training role is taken on by the College of Policing who provide national online training and refresher packages, indeed much police training in recent years has been conducted online particularly by means of what is called the "NCALT" system. However questions over the effectiveness of such packages may lead to the re- introduction of more face to face training.
This particular booklet was produced locally by Sussex Police to guide officers through the T2 Road Traffic Accident reporting system introduced in the late 1980s. This was primarily for the more detailed recording of road traffic accidents involving injuries or where specific offences had taken place.
