For an officer or traffic warden to carry and use to report Vehicle Excise Licence offences.Context
In the past officers were expected to carry various items of paperwork, normally to deal with motoring offences. These included pocket sized CLE2/6 pads such as the one pictured. These were used by both officers and traffic wardens to record when and where they saw vehicles with no current Vehicle Excise Licence, more commonly referred to as a Tax Disc. These were completed at the scene and subsequently sent off to the DVLA. This particular pad was carried by WPS BT155 Myra Thomas at Brighton in the late 1980s in her official handbag (item 2233), along with other paperwork and equipment.
In more recent years vehicle excise offences tend to be dealt with by agencies contracted by the DVLA, such as local parking enforcement companies, who will clamp vehicles before removing them.
