Context

Following the introduction of photo Sussex Police warrant cards and ID badges in the late 1990s, it became common practice for them to be worn in special clear plastic holders suspended on lanyards around the neck. Indeed there was a requirement for all staff to wear an ID badge on police premises, when not in uniform, especially at Police HQ at Lewes. Over time many different styles of lanyard have been available, there not being a particular design that must be worn, providing of course that what is used does not cause offence, or is discriminatory. This particular lanyard has the "Keeping Sussex Safe" logo.
