Context

In September 2018 Sussex Police abandoned the use of its old warrant numbering system of "C" for male officers and "D" for female officers and instead adopted gender neutral numbers for all new recruits beginning with numbers prefixed "EA". After the first 999 numbers are issued the prefix will change to "EB" and so on. As well as all new officers being given "EA" numbers, any existing officer that wanted to have a gender neural number was also given the option of being allocated one. Standard epaulettes have the warrant number in silver/white thread under the embroidered Sussex Police coat of arms badge (item 2473). These particular epaulettes are some of a number that were specially made for PC Annabella Perfect, the Transgender Non Binary and Intersex liaison officer for the Brighton and Hove Division for her to wear during engagement events. Her colleague PC Rich Hall, the Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual liaison officer for the Division also has some and they are the only officers in Sussex Police with them. The officers have received positive comments when wearing these epaulettes, which they wear to increase LGBT+ representation and awareness. This set show the Progress Pride Flag which was designed by Daniel Quasar in 2018 and incorporates elements from the 2017 Philadelphia Pride Flag and the Trans Pride Flag.
