Context

Until 1995 Volunteer Cadets in Sussex Police normally used the same cap/hat badge as that used by constables and sergeants. However after 1995 when the new Sussex Police all ranks enamelled badges were introduced, a special badge was adopted for the cadets. Unlike the police officer's version, that for the cadets was not topped by a crown and instead of having the word "police", was marked "VCC". Also it did not have a slider at the rear but instead was attached to a cap/hat with a screw fitting. With the adoption of a voided enamelled badge for police officers in 2002, a similar voided badge was adopted for cadets. As with the previous cadet badge this version did not have the crown and again had the letters'VCC" instead of "Police". Unlike the previous type it had a rear slider.
