Four page correspondence on a single sheet of paper folded in half. Blue lines on first page only. The letter is addressed "Barracked near Jones Neck, Va. Tuesday Evening Aug 16th 1864, Friend Edgar". There are letters over the place in the address, written upside down. I think it says "Missouri Line". and it is darker ink and different penmanship, perhaps even a stamp. The letter is signed "I am yours, John To Edgar" and there is a PS that is crunched in two lines at the bottom and then goes up the right edge of the last page. In the top left corner of the last page are tallies in blue ink. There is a stamp in the top left corner of the first page of shield with four designs in each corner of the shield,, hard to make out what they are of.Collection
