Two identical black and white photographs of a man standing on rocks along a river/lake. He is wearing dark pants with suspenders and a lighter long-sleeved shirt. He is holding a long stick our over the water, possibly fishing. Written in black ink on the back "John Hammer, son of the first sheriff of Cal. Co, Aug 1, 1934" and on the bottom left corner "O.E. Heller". BC2010.022.062B is a larger photograph and slightly closer. Written on the back in blue ink is "John Emery Hammer, a son of John Crossly Hammer, the first sheriff of Calumet Co. 12/26/38."
