Scope and Content

Three pages of correspondence on a single sheet of paper folded in half (fourth page is blank). The letter is written in blue ink and addressed "Fairfax Seminary, near Alexandria, Va. Sept the 24th /64. Well Edgar". The signature on the third page reads "I remain ever Dear Cousin, Daniel S. P--" (can't make out last name) "To Edgar M. Dick". The writer must have been hurt and is on the mend and claims he will return home soon. He received news from the recipient of a number of deaths and mourns them but says "so it is and so it must be". He says there is good news from the south that the northern army is gaining ground.
