Scope and Content

Single sheet of paper with correspondence on both sides. The top margin has a large stamp of a soldier riding a horse and "Second Regiment Wisconsin Cavalry. Camp Washburn, Milwaukee, 186" in blue and orange ink. The writer finishes the date after Milwaukee. This one is from February 5th, 1862. Written in light black ink it is addressed to "Dear Cousin". It talks about wanting to go home, but being unable to until they are paid off according to the Captain. They are going to become infantry soon, but the writer will only go if they are cavalry. It finishes by talking about rations and longing for home. It is not signed.
