Scope and Content

Single sheet of paper, folded in half to create four pages of correspondence. The top of the first page has a stamp in red ink that is of a man sleeping in the foreground near a fire, dreaming of a couple kissing. There are tents in the background. Next to the picture is "The Soldier's Dream of Home. 'At the dead of the night a sweet vision I saw, And thrice e'er the morning I dreamt it again. But sorrow return'd with the dawning of morn, And the voice in my dreaming ear melted away'." The letter is addressed "Benton Barrax, Mo. March 28th /62. Dear friend Abba" signed "Truly yours S. Skeesuck". It talks about the companies travels through Chicago, across the Mississippi River, and to St. Louis.
