Two typed pages of correspondence signed Chas. A. Grignon, U.S. Interpreter on behalf of Hon. Geo. W. Manyanny Commissioner of Indian affairs, Washington City. D. Columbia. It is just addressed to 'sir' from Kaukauna Outagamie, Wis. Sept. 27, 1855. It is the resignation letter of Chas. A. Grignon because he was "compelled to become the instruement [sic] of so much oppression and injustice that I am not willing to occupy so humiliating a position any longer".
