Scope and Content

Four lined pages of correspondence. The two sheets of paper are still attached to one another. The letter is addressed "Camp Benton St. Louis Missouri, Wednesday April 9th AD 1862. Cousin Abba" and signed LM Johnson. The last page of the letter is a full page drawing of "View of the Fair Grounds, St. Louis, Mo." It depicts a three tiered tower with spectators in it. An American flag flies above the tower and people sit in stands around the tower watching rows of soldiers march around it. The whole thing is gated with people wearing fancy clothes watching from outside the gate.
