Three page correspondence written on a single sheet of paper folded in half, last page is empty. There is letter head on the first page that reads "Head Quarters, Department of the Missouri, Office of Provost Marshal General, St. Louis, April 18th, 1864" and is addressed to "Distant Friend and Relative Miss A." It is signed "Your Grey Eyed Cousin, LM Johnson, Office Provost Marshal General, Saint Louis, Mo. Miss Abba L. Fowler, Brothertown, Calumet County, Wisconsin." It is written in a pink ink. Difficult to read, but talks about possibly re-enlisting and not seeing home for quite some time yet.Collection
