Scope and Content

Small sheet of paper, folded in half to create four pages of writing. Only the first and last page have writing, or if unfold just one side of the paper has writing on it. The first page has a large red stamp of a flag with a square of stars in the top right corner, "Excelsior" in the banner part that has vertical stripes and the flag ends in two peaks. The letter is addressed "November 5, 1862 Hospital No. 4, New Albany Ind. Dear Brother" and is signed "this is from Edgar M. Dick to Asa Dick". The letter talks about how he is doing good, but still can't write (see BC2010.022.461). He talks about who has died or been wounded including a William Fowler. He asks for money for paper and stamps.
