Single page, typed correspondence addressed "Chas. A. Grignon, Esq., Dear Sir: You will remember that at the last Annuity Payment of the Menomonee, the Chief Oshkosh, complained, among other grievances, that the late Sub. Agent, David Jones had retained a half box of their money, and referred to you in support of the allegation...." Albert G. Ellis who wrote this letter is thus making inquiries to people about the situation and requesting a statement from Charles A. Grignon. There is a second letter (copy) beneath this addressed "Northern Superintendency of Indian Affairs, Milwaukee, June 10, 1853, Sir: I have been informed by letter from the Commissioner dated the 6th inst. that your nomination, to be Interpreter in place of William Powell is confirmed. I remain Sir, Respectfully, Your obt. servt. Francis Huebschmann, Superintendent & c.
