Four page correspondence written on a single sheet of folded paper. The letter is addressed "Colby, Wis, June 11th 1899, Dear Aunt" but it is buried on the first page because the writer turned the page sideways and wrote sideways down the top margin of the paper across the fourth page and the first page. The last line of this sideways writing reads "I must close with love -- all, Hattie". The letter talks about how she was away for weeks to help a "crippled lady" as work. She finishes by lamenting how she cannot visit this summer because money is scarce and hopes she can return to school in the fall.
BC2010.022.616B is the envelope the letter was contained in. It is addressed to "Mrs. Agnes L. Fowler, Brothertown, Calumet Co., Wis" and has a 2 cent stamp in the top right corner.Collection
