Half sheet of paper with State of Wisconsin, Secretary's Office, Madison letterhead and dated July 1, 1865. It is addressed to the Town Clerk of Brothertown in Brown County, Wis. Content discusses the probably support and care for the orphan children of deceased Wisconsin soldiers who died in service and asks for a count of the number of children under fifteens years of age that meet this requirement. It is signed "Very truly, Lucius Fairchild, Secretary of State". At the bottom written in pencil is "Samuel O. Hashings, State Treasurer."Collection
